The 333 Experience Congress Latam was held in Colombia with more than 1,300 attendees. In two days, experts and leaders of the Latin American pork industry shared their views on the sector’s challenges and potential evolution. One of them was Rodrigo Castañón, Business Manager of ChileCarne, the association that represents the ChilePork brand that promotes Chilean pork internationally, who was part of a panel discussion on the role of trade associations.
On November 21 and 22, the annual 333 Experience Congress Latam was held in Medellín, Colombia. The conference brings together pork industry leaders from Latin America and is recognized for its academic quality and its effective networking platform. It brought together more than 1,300 people, 40% from abroad and more than 200 online attendees, consolidating its place in the region.
The opening ceremony was led by Xavier Salamó, CEO of 333 Corporate; Reinaldo Cubillos, General Director of 333 Latam; and María del Carmen Otero, Chair of the Board of Porkcolombia.
“The 333 Experience Congress was a hotbed of experiences, opportunities, and ideas. This time the format was different, and gave us access to workshops, sessions, and panel discussions. One noticeable difference was its interactivity. The participants could share their opinions through their phones, helping to co-create knowledge-rich interactions and debates. On the other hand, the workshops provided us with skills we can take back to our farms. Many producers and business leaders attended workshops on strategic planning, communication, and other critical areas for our industry organized under the conference’s four pillars of knowledge. We are quite pleased as we brought together many trade associations and we all agreed on celebrating Ibero-American Pork Day on March 15. It is a great pleasure to bring Latin American pork farming together and learn about the efforts being made to build a united, responsible, and forward-looking industry,” said Reinaldo Cubillos.
The conference had a diverse and rich academic agenda, with eight discussion panels led by knowledgeable experts and moderators in key topics such as business management, productivity, efficiency, economy, sustainability, leadership, and people management. There were also 11 sessions led by international speakers covering sustainability, health, nutrition, and leadership.
ChileCarne was part of the panel “Lessons learned from trade associations in Latin America.” Rodrigo Castañón, Business Manager of ChileCarne, together with representatives of the pork industries of Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, talked about the challenges faced by trade organizations in Latin America at the local and regional level. The discussion focused on how to manage the relationship with the public sector and what the future of these associations should be.
“The 333 Experience Congress brought together more than 1,300 professionals from the Latin American pork sector to analyze and share experiences in topics as diverse as the type of leadership needed in the sector, health hazards that can impact production and exports, consumer education, timely communication, and more. It was certainly a high-level event and wonderful input for ChileCarne and its members,” Castañón concluded.
The workshops were another highlight of the conference, as they used dynamic and groundbreaking methodologies that provided opportunities for co-creation and interaction between participants, while promoting fun and effective learning. In turn, the trade exhibition provided the ideal space for networking with leading companies.
The 333 Experience Congress was not just a space to share knowledge and experiences, but also to underscore the importance of unity and trust within the Latin American pork sector.
Its next edition is scheduled for October 2024 in Costa Rica, and it promises to be another milestone for the region’s pork industry.
