This agreement makes Agrosuper the first Chilean company to have financing through a “Green Loan”, a sustainable financing contract granted by the Coöperative Rabobank UA, with which it will finance part of the acquisitions made in the salmon industry.

“This milestone is another step in our relationship with Rabobank, who have maintained a permanent commitment to the agribusiness and especially, with the sustainability initiatives we have carried out, starting with the first future sale of carbon credits in 2006 and now with the signing of this “Green Loan”, with which we reaffirm our commitment to the sustainability of the industry, “said Luis Felipe Fuenzalida, Manager of Administration and Finance of Agrosuper.

The agreement, structured only between these parties, proposes a term of 7 years and reaffirms the long-term vision and commitment of the company with the application and compliance with the highest sustainability standards in its production processes.

“This agreement is a declaration of both institutions to work together to prioritize sustainability in agribusiness. We are proud to support a leading company like Agrosuper in its plans to grow through the first green loan a Chilean company has ever run in the country. Agrosuper’s commitment contributes to the objective of the Rabobank group to support the sustainable feeding of the 9 billion people that will inhabit the planet by the year 2050, “said Jorge Torres, Corporate Banking Manager Rabo Finance Chile.

In this sense, the agreement aims to continue to reduce the use of antibiotics in salmon, to incorporate the new centers under ASC certification (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) and promote the work, that has been done with the neighboring communities of the production facilities.

“This agreement is in line with our sustainability strategy, whose objective is to combine environmentally responsible management, based on the inclusion of technology and innovation, which allows us to reduce the externalities inherent to our operation, along with integrating the interests of the different stakeholders to our daily work,” said Fuenzalida.
