Designed as a recreational and community park, this new space seeks to provide a natural and recreational environment for the AASA’s employees, their families, and the wider community in Mallarauco, a town located in the municipality of Melipilla, Metropolitan Region, thus furthering the company’s commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Agrícola AASA inaugurated its “Biodiversity and Protected Area” known as Eco Parque Campesino [Rural Eco Park] on October 24 at its Mallarauco site.

The inauguration event was attended by fifth grade students from Ramón Noguera Prieto school, who helped to plant native trees. This experience taught the students about caring for the environment in a practical way. “I think it’s a spectacular, fantastic place, because it opens up a different world to them,” commented Raquel Silva Toro, a teacher at the school, who added that “even though they are in the classroom, even though they are in their homes, it is different to come visit, learn, and see how these spaces are cared for.” She highlighted the importance of this type of activity for environmental education and for the active involvement of the children, who were able to play, plant native trees, and learn about the importance of reforestation and environmental conservation.

The Eco Parque Campesino was designed to offer a variety of recreational facilities including a hiking and biking trail, a playground, a barbecue area, a soccer field, a trampoline, a geodesic dome, and a solar parking lot. “The park has several elements based on the concept of sustainability. The idea is to install solar panels to keep it illuminated at all times. There will be a dome for holding athletic workshops, such as zumba or physical education classes, and a field for traditional sports such as soccer,” explained Alejandro Gebauer Arredondo, Agrícola AASA’s Project and Management Manager, who is part of the team behind the project. He also added that the project has a trampoline that symbolizes the company’s biodigesters: children can jump and have fun while emulating the process of generating clean energy.

According to Alejandro Gebauer of Agrícola AASA, this space was created as part of a vision of corporate social responsibility that is centered on employees and the local community. “The Eco Parque Campesino is first and foremost a space for our collaborators and workers, because corporate social responsibility begins with them and their families. After them, there is the surrounding community, which we are also part of as a company,” Gebauer said.

The creation of Eco Parque Campesino also reflects the company’s objective to educate and raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity. Accordingly, the park has a landscape design that features 224 trees of a variety of species, which is intended to attract a variety of local fauna. “We want children to be able to observe how both flora and fauna thrive in this space and to be able to enjoy it responsibly,” said Alejandro Gebauer, highlighting the company’s commitment to environmental conservation.

With this initiative, Agrícola AASA reaffirms its commitment to the community of Mallarauco, providing a space that is accessible to all. “There are companies that have places like these, but they are reserved for their own people or for a select group. Instead, the idea here was to be open to the community, to those who live here and to everyone who wants to come visit from the valley, as long as they take care of it. That is the most important thing,” concluded Raquel Silva Toro, a teacher who was invited to the event.
