ChileCarne’s Board discusses industry export challenges with new Minister of Agriculture

On March 23, representatives of the Association met with the newly appointed Minister of Agriculture, Jaime Campos, to address the key challenges facing the pork and poultry export sector and to strengthen joint public-private efforts.

ChileCarne outlined the sector’s development in recent years, highlighting production growth, high health standards, and its growing position in international markets. The challenges of an increasingly demanding global context were also analyzed, marked by higher requirements for sustainability, traceability, and competitiveness.

The meeting was also an opportunity to identify opportunities to further boost the sector’s growth, with a joint agenda aimed at enhancing production and opening new markets.

Chile’s meat sector has established itself as a significant player not only for its contribution to exports and the country’s economy but also for its role in food security. ChileCarne celebrated the work with the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighting that public-private collaboration has been key to positioning Chilean meat both at home and abroad.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, the meeting was attended by Minister Campos, his advisors, and Daniela Acuña, the acting Director of the Office of Agricultural Research and Policies (ODEPA). ChileCarne was represented by its President, Juan Carlos Domínguez; Directors Guillermo Díaz and José Guzmán from Agrosuper; Felipe Saelzer from Maxagro; and Jaime Bascuñán from Agrícola AASA; as well as the Association’s Operations and Foreign Trade Manager, Rodrigo Castañón; and the Communications Manager, Pía Barros.
