Coexca, a member company of ChileCarne, achieved a significant milestone by receiving the international Certified Care certification from CloverLeaf Animal Welfare Systems. In doing so, it became the first pork producer, marketer, and exporter in Chile to obtain this certification for all of its breeding farms, its animal transport system, and its flagship processing plant.
Certified Care is an international certification program that measures and verifies compliance with strict animal welfare criteria at all stages of production, encouraging practices focused on animal care, continuous improvement, and the sustainability of production systems.
The award, bestowed by CloverLeaf Animal Welfare Systems Chile and backed by MSD Animal Health, recognizes the work carried out by Coexca and its subsidiaries to implement strict animal welfare protocols throughout its entire value chain. It also demonstrates its commitment to responsible, sustainable production by strengthening traceability, complying with international standards, and meeting the growing demands of global markets and consumers.
The certification was awarded in a ceremony held in Talca, which was attended by industry representatives, government officials, and other stakeholders in the agri-food sector. The ceremony was attended by ChileCarne’s president Juan Carlos Domínguez, who praised the value of such initiatives for their role in strengthening the sector’s competitiveness, creating value for domestic production, and bolstering the confidence of international markets in Chilean pork.
This milestone positions Coexca as a leader in animal welfare within the national pork industry and reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable, high-quality production and continuous improvement. It also takes stock of the progress the sector has made in adopting practices aligned with the highest international standards, thereby strengthening its competitiveness and recognition in target markets.
